Ray Nangin Interview
I finally found a copy of the now infamous Ray Nangin Interview on the web, and it’s here. He is New Orlean’s major, and has a lot to say about the situation in his city, and the authorities that should provide help. In very clear words.
And dear Americans, please don’t pay attention to the bullsh*t, that Spiegel Online is writing about the Germans and especially Mr. Trittin’s reaction to the catastrophe. I don’t link it here because I think they don’t deserve it. The american part of their online publication needs some buzz, so they make up a story about Germans being heartless and doing bush-bashing instead of helping.
Trittin wrote that article sunday or monday, before the devastations were evident, and it’s about climatic changes, Bush’s “No” to Kyoto, and that we need to extend the Kyoto protocol. Katrina is mentioned as an example for what dangers the world faces if they don’t act on global warming, but not more. I believe Mr. Trittin feels the same about the people in New Orleans, as do most other persons in Germany. We’re as shocked as anyone else seeing a city like New Orleans turn into that chaos, and we hope that you will all get fine as soon as possible.
That said, Spiegel published a wrong and very, very biased commentary about Trittin’s article without giving americans the chance to read the original, that they are referring to, in their own language. If anyone is aware of an english translation, please let me know, I’ll link it here. It’s election time here, and Spiegel obviously wants to help removing the green party from power, and sadly people like Otto Graf Lambsdorf are falling for it.
