The Redwalls & Antigone Rising
Just a quick update, wile i”m doing my regular get-the-pictures-from-the-camera-to-a-CD thing at Apple’s SoHo Store:
Yesterday I saw 2 Bands in the Housing Works Used Books Cafe a very nice little bookstore with cafe that is run by volunteers to raise money for homeless people with HIV/AIDS. Once a month they get rid of the cafe tables build up a stage, and 50-100 people lucky enough to get in can witness a really good lineup of bands…
The Redwalls totally rocked the bookstore. They are one of those “Strokes”-like boys-with-guitars rock bands with a “the” in their name, and if they don’t screw it up totally, they will definitely be big. They’re angry, have great songs, and have a stage presence that is rare to find, even in this genre. They look loke rockstars, act like rockstars and will ultimately be rockstars not far from now. Their current tour includes being the opening act for Oasis in london, so that’s a pretty good start. They will release their Album on June 21, their old one is unfortunately out of stock.
Antigone Rising is a 5-girls-band, that were the main act of the show. They sound quite american (they’re frm New Jersey), have great voices (espeacially the lead singer), and a big œvre of songs. From quiet ballads to hard 70’s style rock songs, they really got the audience, and on “broken” I witnessed the best sing-along-audience I”ve ever heared. It was a great show and you should definitly see them when they’re in your area. The Girls tour around since the 90s and recently got discovered by (of all things) Starbucks, who sell their CDs in every store. So the”re kind of big already ;-)
